How this works.

Is this actually free?

Yes. No account, subscription or watermark. Choose an image and start picking colors.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. Your image is decoded and analyzed locally in your browser. The color picker does not send your image or extracted colors to a server.

Which image formats can I use?

Common formats such as PNG, JPEG and WebP work in modern browsers. Support for other formats depends on your browser. If an image cannot be read, try a PNG or JPEG version.

How many colors can I extract?

The tool starts with up to eight distinct colors estimated from your image. Click the preview to add a sampled pixel color. The palette keeps up to 16 colors, with your latest samples first.

How do I copy or reuse a color?

Click a color swatch to copy its HEX value, or click the image preview to sample and copy a pixel color. HEX, RGB and HSL values are also shown as selectable text. To match a QR code to your image, paste a HEX value into the QR code generator's code color field.

Why does the palette not show every color?

The automatic palette uses a smaller version of your image and groups similar colors to find a compact set of distinct shades. Mostly transparent pixels are ignored. For a specific shade, click that point in the image preview.
