How this works.
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding, analysis and trimming all run locally in your browser, in a background thread so the page stays responsive. Nothing is ever sent to a server.
Why WAV only, and why the 15-minute limit?
WAV keeps things simple and fast to decode without extra codec libraries, and the limit keeps analysis quick and comfortable for your browser's memory.
How is the default threshold chosen?
We compute the loudness of your whole file in ~25ms windows, then use Otsu's method (a standard technique for separating two clusters in a histogram) to automatically find the level that best separates "silence" from "sound".
Will it cut natural pauses in speech?
No, at least not yet!
